What touches a child’s skin matters. Roo & Thread prioritizes products whose declared textile composition is made from natural fibers such as organic cotton, cotton muslin, cotton, wool, and cashmere.
We screen product information for disclosed synthetic textile blends and avoid products identified as containing materials such as polyester, nylon, acrylic, rayon, viscose, modal, or spandex/elastane in the primary textile composition of the pieces we curate.
Organic cotton
Organic cotton is grown under standards that restrict certain conventional agricultural inputs. When a product is described as GOTS certified or carries another certification, we aim to present that claim only when it is supported by information from the supplying brand.
Cotton muslin
Muslin is a lightweight, breathable woven cotton fabric that works especially well for swaddles, blankets, warm-weather clothing, and gifting.
Wool and cashmere
As our assortment grows, we plan to selectively add wool and cashmere pieces that meet the same material-first approach.
Material transparency
Product construction can include hardware, labels, thread, closures, or other secondary components that are not always fully disclosed in supplier listings. We review the information available to us and include product-specific material details on each listing whenever possible.
